About Linda

Linda has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She graduated from Tidewater Community College with a major in media advertising arts, and pursued a career in advertising. However, her true love has always been fine art, and she has continued to draw and paint throughout her stint as an Art Director. She attended many classes, demonstrations, seminars and workshops with such noted artists as Louise Freshman Brown, Jennie Chi, David Dewy, Raymond Gaddy, Polly Hammett, Kyle Keith, Paul Ladnier, Pat Lusk, Robert Parnell, Pat San Souci, , Carole Wilen, Lela Streett, Carolynn Mann, Suzanne McCollough Plowden and many others. And in 2006 received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Florida. Today, Linda works in various media, but chooses watercolor, acrylic and collage most frequently, creating anything from realistic works to abstracts to murals and floorcloths.
Her career as a graphic designer began in 1974, working at various advertising agencies in Norfolk & Virginia Beach, Virginia. While living there, Linda was a member of the Virginia Beach Arts Center and exhibited in its member’s shows. After moving to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1984, Linda built her own advertising business while caring for her newborn son, Robert, providing her clients with art from concept to finish. Linda used her advertising skills for the Hilton Head Art League as their Public Relations Coordinator and showed her art work in the member’s gallery and the annual Evening for the Arts in 1986 and 1987. Linda moved to Charleston, SC in 1988, and became a member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society, the Gibbes Museum Art Center and the Bethune Arts Center, exhibiting there as well.
In 1996, Linda moved to Dahlonega, GA, where she was the President of the Dahlonega Art League, and showed in the Annual Members Shows as well as the Greater Hall Summer Artfest in Gainesville, GA, during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. She was also the membership secretary for the Georgia Watercolor Society
and a member of the Atlanta Artist Club, exhibiting in both groups.
Linda now calls Jacksonville, FL home, where she lives with her husband, Michael and their 2 Italian Greyhounds. She is a member of the Jacksonville Watercolor Society, The Florida Watercolor Society, The Art Center Cooperative, The St. Augustine Art Center, where she regularly exhibits her work. She is also a member of AIGA, The American Institute of Graphic Artists. Linda is inspired by the beauty and gifts of nature around her whether at home, on the St. Johns River or traveling the Caribbean Islands. Her favorite subjects are what she calls “God’s Little Treasures”, the things we often pass by during our busy day without seeing. It helps her remember to take time to smell the roses each day and to savour and be thankful for each moment shared with the world the Lord has created for our pleasure.
